My Classifieds is a small, private marketplace for selling or giving away items around the home. Its purpose is to replace scattered messages with a shared view of what is available, who is interested and what has already been reserved.

Interest is different from commitment

Trusted visitors sign in and browse the items. A like records interest; a commitment reserves the item. That distinction gives both sides more clarity than treating every message as an agreement to take something.

An admin area manages stock, images and requests. Notifications alert the owner when someone commits, and the owner can confirm the sale or decline the request so the item becomes available again. The system keeps the operational state visible through the handover process.

Keep the workflow small

There is no payment processing or checkout in this product. For a household marketplace, a reliable reservation and an understandable handover can be more valuable than recreating a full ecommerce stack.

The gated SvelteKit storefront, Flask API, PostgreSQL data model and image handling support that narrow purpose. Private access makes the audience explicit, while the separation between browsing and administration keeps the owner's work manageable.

What this work demonstrates

The project shows product judgement in a deliberately bounded workflow: model the decisions people actually need, distinguish soft interest from commitment and keep the item state coherent. The next step is to refine buyer and owner feedback around reservation and collection rather than adding transaction complexity prematurely.
